Every Trip With The Kids, whether big or small, always has those certain moments that stay with us forever. Spectacular on a grand scale like volcanic craters thousands of years old, to quiet moments at the end of a busy day. Here are a few of our favorite memories to share with you. I can only hope these adventures motivate everyone to cultivate their own memories. May you all grow to be nostalgic of the future!
Philadelphia
Philadelphia stands out as one of my life's favorite trips. It may not be as exotic and distant as some, but I promise, Philly is in a league of its own. A beautiful Zoo that just happens to be the oldest in America, world class museums that rival any city, and the heritage of our countries birth woven into the cities culture are a sampling of what can be adventured and experienced. Philly has something for everyone. We started our adventures with the Visitors center and Independence Hall, where we can literately walk in our Founding Fathers footsteps. The Independent Mall was a familiar crossroad during our Philadelphia adventure. Walking through Chinatown, Arch Street opens to the middle of Independence Mall, to the left the modern, sprawling, and cleanly elegant National Constitution center. Across the length of Independence Mall, Independence Hall sits held in time. These two grand displays of American heritage, along with the Liberty Bell and the beautiful Visitors Center stretched between them, make this a corner of our country one that every American should have on there Trips With The Kids list!
Maybe not the image of Americana one would first associate with Philadelphia. We stayed in a great little hotel right on the edge of Chinatown, and everyday we walked through on our way to the sights.
Completed in 1928, The main building of the Philadelphia Museum of Art stands atop the Benjamin Franklin Parkway like a modern Parthenon. Don't miss your chance to run up the "Rocky" steps! Of course I did, check out the video in the Philadaelphia gallery!
Located in Center City, Love Park (officially JFK Plaza),is a favorite destination for tourists and locals alike. The plaza's famous "LOVE" sculpture, curved granite steps, and large single spout fountain starts visitors on their journey through Philly's museum district. It may be just a park with a fountain, but the iconic statue, the amazing perspective looking down Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the Museum of Art, and my son having a hell of a blowout (parents of a 2yr old know) will always keep this little acre of America in my heart.
